Meet Our Team

Dr. Jennifer Lechman (Owner of Jentle Acupuncture)

Dr. Jen is a Diplomat in Acupuncture and is National Board Certified through the NCCAOM. She completed her undergraduate degree at University of Illinois at Chicago and holds a Bachelors of Applied Psychology and then attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, receiving a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine and a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. The 4-year Master’s program consisted of studying Acupuncture, Herbology, Chinese Medicine, and western biomedicine. Her education encompasses over 3,000-hours of graduate level studies as well as over 1,000 supervised hands-on clinical hours in Acupuncture.

Her clinical interests range from treating chronic pain, psycho-emotional conditions, and women’s health. Dr. Jen’s clinical experiences include an internship at Rady’s Children’s Hospital, San Diego. Here she treated chronic pain conditions, children with special needs, and pediatric oncology patients. In addition, she completed an internship with the Anesthesiology Department of John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, IL. At this internship, Dr. Jen treated patients in both outpatient pain clinic and in the Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit (PACU). She developed a close relationship with her mentor who helped her see the need for Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in an integrative setting.

Dr. Jen became interested in mind-body-spirit medicine when she was introduced to yoga. During yoga she learned that there are ways to facilitate healing using non-invasive modalities and that the body is capable of healing itself. This is when she decided to dive deep into alternative medicine. Jennifer works to apply her knowledge in Chinese Medicine to empower each person to be their best advocate regarding their health. She believes the path of healing is a multi-tiered process that starts with wanting to create change in one’s life. She is dedicated to co-creating a path of growth, health, and healing with her patients. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, yoga, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Reiki Master

Hello, my name is Marcia Kalina! I am a Certified Reiki Practitioner & Master Reiki Teacher. I became passionate about healing and helping others when I saw, firsthand, the benefits of a Reiki treatment in 2008. Soon after my Reiki session, I began my journey training and teaching in a wide variety of alternative holistic, healing methods. I have 8 years of experience with LLLT (Low Level Light Therapy) using the Infrared Light Therapy system pads.

Reiki has been a great resource and help for me, my family, friends, and clients. My story is one of assisting myself and others to improve the quality of life.

My father was one of those recipients when he was in hospice care. He was terminally ill with cancer. When I arrived home to sit by his side in his last days, I discovered he had a fever of 104.5 and rising. My mom called the hospice nurse asking what to do. She also informed the Hospice Nurse I was giving him Reiki. In less than a minute while they were chatting, his fever dropped to 101 and he went from hot and sticky to cool and comfortable. The Nurse said you are incredibly lucky to have someone giving Reiki during Hospice care. No medicine was required to reduce the fever and his
temperature returned to normal shortly after. I was able to give many Reiki treatments in the following days which comforted him greatly and assisted him in a peaceful passing.

Some of the many benefits of Reiki include pain relief, stress reduction, increased energy, intuition, and focus with more body awareness in a centered and balanced way. Reiki is Universal Life Energy, and anyone can learn to use Reiki on themselves and others.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing my gifts and talents here at Jentle Acupuncture!
